Lavendar Rice and a Little Something Blue Too...

My cousin is getting married today - Congratulations to her and her new husband!! They're having a very small ceremony with just my Aunt and Uncle along with My other cousin and her husband. They've been engaged for a while and just decided a fun "destination" Wedding while they are on a big family vacation this summer was the perfect option for them! They'll have a bigger reception party this fall so the rest of their Friends and Family can celebrate with them!

Now if you know me it's against my rules to let anyone have a milestone event without a little handmade touch added! So I wanted to send a little something along with them for their big day and I needed to make something quick. Mom brought home some lavender "rice" from a local lavender farm, Winding Brook Estates. (If you live in the area a visit is a great summer activity, check it out) Lavender rice is just Dried Loose Lavender Buds. Mom though it would be fun to send the Lavender Rice along with them so they had something fun to shower the newlyweds with after the wedding - plus it'll make their suitecases smell fabulous! So we filled some Small Cello bags with the lavender and created these window boxes.

    Supplies Used:

    • Bashful Blue Taffeta Ribbon
    • Almost Amethyst card stock
    • Tea Party Designer Series Paper
    • Taste of Textiles Specialty Paper
    • Movers and Shapers with Curly Label Big Shot Die
    • Small Cello Bags
    • Eyelet Border Punch

I used adhesive to attach the Amethyst paper from Tea Party DSP to the White Striped paper from Taste of Textiles so that I would have the Amethyst inside showing through the window. After cutting the paper with the Movers and Shapers Die I did some scoring and modifying to create the pouches. Decorate the pouches (I had to add the blue ribbon just to make sure they had their little something blue) and add the small cello bag inside and you're done!

I LOVE the Taste of Textiles paper - it comes with an assortment of neutral papers in fun textures and looks - It's hard to capture their beauty in a photograph. The white has a great texture and sheen - here's a close up but it's still better in person!

    Me & My Ribbon Scissors

Do any of you have that one crafting and stamping tool you just can't live without? It's ok you can admit it I know we all have a few of these! For me that #1 tool is my Ribbon Scissors (Actually the Craft & Paper Scissors from SU, but I call 'em Ribbon Scissors). I108360F

From the first moment I held them in my hands it was LOVE. They're so comfortable to hold. I only use mine to cut ribbon. I tied a little piece of ribbon to the handle so everyone else knows these are my ribbon scissors! Sadly, despite how hard I tried, I could not cut the ends of the ribbon I tied onto the handle with the Ribbon Scissors. So the ribbon on the scissors doesn't have that perfect crisp edge I get when I use my ribbon scissors.

I know I have a problem! :) If you've been to a Stamp Camp you know - I'm normally very laid back about my stamping tools (I am right??) I want everyone to play and have fun! But every time I pull out the ribbon scissors I have to remind everyone to be nice to them and only cut ribbon. Like I don't know where to get another pair if I needed them right? I'm sure it would be a dream to cut Paper, Felt, or Just about anything else with these scissors, but that's against the rules in my world. That's what the Paper Snips are for!

So here's a little more info about my favorite stamping tool...

    Craft & Paper Scissors  108360
    Price: $29.95
After you use these scissors just once, you’ll be hooked. These high-quality scissors cut ribbon and card stock easily and beautifully. You’ll get a smooth, clean cut every time.

    • Stainless steel blades, 3-3/4" blade length
    • Perfect for cutting card stock and ribbon
    • Ergonomically designed to fit your hand (right-handed)
    • Heavy duty

If you want to get a pair for yourself pick them up in my online store. Just visit my SU site and click Shop Now.

What is your favorite tool? Leave me a comment and let me know...

    Time for Dad...

With Father's Day coming up we decided to swap mascaline cards at our last team meeting. This card was swapped by Crista - I'm telling you she has a way with markers! I love how much she brought the face of the close to life with just a little color blending.

    Stamp Set: Sense of Time

Crista used Urban Garden Designer Series Paper for the background. I think it's great how she was able to use what I consider a very girly, flowery paper package to come up with a very man friendly card and color theme!

Are you a Fan or My Facebook page yet? I posted some more samples from our team swap on my Facebook page so be sure to hop over to Inkredible Stamping Facebook and check them out. While you're there be sure to click on "Become a Fan" so  you'll get updated everytime I add content to my site.
