Who is helping to give out half a million free books all across America on one day?
Tonight is the first United States World Book Night. World Book Night U.S. is an ambitious campaign to personally give out thousands of free, specially printed books across America. Volunteer book lovers like myself are helping to promote reading by going into our communities and handing out free copies of books we love to new or light readers.
Thirty different book titles were chosen to be a part of WBN and when I put in my application I was able to choose my top 3 pick for the book I would be giving away! The book I get to give away is Q is for Quarry by Sue Grafton. I LOVE mystery books and the Alphabet books are some of my favorite so I was super excited to get to share this book!
If you have not read the book already here's a little synapsis from the publisher:
She was a "Jane Doe," an unidentified white female whose decomposed body was discovered near a quarry off California's Highway 1. Despite months of investigation by police, her case and identity remained unsolved.
That was eighteen years ago. Now the two men who found the body, both nearing the end of long careers in law enforcement, want one last shot at the case and they turn to Kinsey Millhone to help. But revisiting the past can be a dangerous business, and what begins with the pursuit of Jane Doe's real identity ends in a high-risk hunt for her killer.
I picked up my books earlier this week at Barnes and Noble and of course I had to dress up the books a little with a handmade bookmark! I decided that I would make my Bungee bookmarks - my favorite bookmark to use when I'm reading!
The books are all finished, complete with a little note inside from me and ready to be handed out tonight!
I used the Daisies Die to die cut Pool Party card stock and create flowers to decorate the bungee bookmark. The color complimented the cover of Q for Quarry perfectly!!
Here's a close up of the flower on the bookmark.
I am so honored to be a part of the first World Book Night in the U.S., following the impressive launch of this campaign in the UK and Ireland last year. Did anyone else out there participate in World Book Night?? Were you given one of the WBN books? I would LOVE to hear what you though of the book you received!!
