A Little Typewritten Note... {CCMC 190}

Hi Stampers,

I'm here with this week's Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we were given a sketch to inspire our creations...

This sketch was a lot fo fun to play with. I like the label layer behind the square. It adds a lot of interest to a very simple layout.

I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of my You're My Type stamp set and it arrived this week so of course I HAD to play with it!

I love the Gray, Yellow, Black color combination and it worked well for this stamp set. I added a little distressing around the edge of the card layer to go with the vintage type writer. But I still wanted a little bit of a soft touch to the card so I added the ribbon and rhinestones. I really like the Juxtaposition (don't I sound smart when I use big words like that) or the dark colors and distressing with the rhinestone sparkles.

Celebrate with Sparkle {CCMC189}

Hi Stampers,

I'm here with this week's Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This time we had a color challenge...

The other day I saw the most fabulous banner for a party. It was filled with bright colors, sparkles, and flowers. I loved it and when I got the colors for this week's challenge (seen to the right) I knew RIGHT away it was perfect for a sparkley Birthday Baner! 

I punched banners from DSP and linked them together with little rhinestones. Then added a few flowers with bigger Rhinestone centers and finished things off with a fun Celebrate stamp! I think this is a good Birthday card for a Tween :).

A Cup of Thanks... {CCMC188}

I'm here with this week's Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge...

The sketch for this challenge (seen to the right) made me think of the Big Tea Cup from Tea Shoppe. I decided to change the scallop circle layer to a full square background - I really wanted to be able to see the fun aged, embossed background on this card.

I colored the flowers on the Tea Cup in with the Pool Party Stampin' Write Marker and added small Pearls to the centers of the flowers. The card went together very quickly and easily! Don't forget to visit the Create with Connie and Mary website to get more inspiration from the other designers!

So Sweet and Soft... {CCMC187}

This week's Create with Connie and Mary Challenge was a Color Challenge...

...based on the combo shown here. This combo was right up my ally - purple and aqua it doesn't get any better. I love the way the Concord Crush is a bold splash of color against the soft Pool Party and Sahara Sand.  The soft colors in this combo again inspired a sweet and simple card. I wanted a lot of white space so the Concord Crush splash of color would really shine. Don't forget to visit the Create with Connie and Mary website to get more inspiration from the other designers!

I'm excited to announce that in addition to being a Guest Designer for Create with Connie and Mary Occasions Edition I'm also joining their Thursday Challenge Design Team. That means every Thursday I'll be bringing you cards inspired by their Sketch and Color Challenges! I love sketches and color challenges. It really helps when you're creating a card. There is nothing worse than staring at a blank page :) .... with a challenge at least you have a direction to go...

This week's challenge was a Sketch Challenge. I created this Sending Kisses Card...

...based on the sketch to the right. A simple sketch with a fun twist. I really liked the offset layers with the rounded corners.  I wanted to keep this card simple like the sketch so I added random heart stamped tone on tone to the Pink Pirouette layer and embossed hearts to the Very Vanilla layer! I created another Creating Pretty Cards sketch challenge for the month of December. For the inspiration card I wanted to play around with Shades of White with just a splash of green.

I created another Card Sketch for the Creating Pretty Cards Challenge over on Craft Project Central this month!

For the inspiration card I created a spooky color scheme of Basic Gray, Lucky Limeade, and Rich Razzleberry! The Witch on the broom is from one of my favorite Halloween stamp sets this year Out on a Limb (See It Online) to create this Sending You Love card. It's an easy card to let a friend know you're thinking about them and you can easily change up the color scheme to something a bit more romantic for a card you can send to your special someone!

For the inspiration card I created a fun bright color combo or Real Red, Daffodil Delight, and Lucky Limeade! I used the Easy Events Stamp Set (See It Online) to create this Sending You Love card. It's an easy card to let a friend know you're thinking about them and you can easily change up the color scheme to something a bit more romantic for a card you can send to your special someone!

This Little Piggy...

This month for the inspiration card I decided to play with one of my favorite new sets!

I'm simply in LOVE with Button Buddies stamp set (See It Online). I used Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo because of course I was playing with a piggy so pink was an easy choice. Then I decided to throw a little Peach Parfait in the mix for a pop of color. I never though I would get on board with the Pink and Orange color combos that are so popular but it's really starting to grow on me now!

Does that ever happen to any of you?? You see a color combo trend and think "I'll NEVER put those colors together" and then a little time goes by and suddenly you realize you're using those colors together all the time...

Nothing Better Than a Bowl of Cherries!

There is a new Monthly Sketch Challenge over at Craft Project Central - and I was honored when Jacque asked me if I would help her cordinate the challenges!!

Each month CPC will host a Creating Pretty Cards Challenge. This month I created a simple sketch for the challenge. I think this layout is great for light and bright summer cards!

This month for the inspiration card I had to use some of the new items in the Idea Book.

I choose the Cherish Friendship stamp set (See It Online). I LOVE the way the Pool Party card stock looks against the Cherry Cobbler of the Cherries. I colored the image using Watercolor Crayons to soften the look just a bit and of course finished it off with a little scrunched Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ribbon.
