Hi Technique lovers - it's still a little too early for me to start putting up sneak peeks of the techniques we're working on for the Stamp 'n Scrap University Class so I though I would share a fast and fun technique with you while you're waiting.
I posted these Fabric Flower pins over on my Inkredible Stamping Blog, you can read all about them here, but I wanted to focus on the Designer Series Paper Button technique I used in the center of the flowers for my techique lovers following the SSU blog.
This is a great technique for Scrapbookers and Card Makers. You'll always have buttons to match the paper you're using when you make them yourself and best of all you can make them using the scraps left over from the projects you're creating!
Designer Series Paper Buttons
- Pick out a square or round Clear Button. (you can find these in my Stampin' Up! online shop just click here and search for Clear Buttons)
- Find a piece of scrap paper that is slightly bigger than the button you're using.
- Squeeze a small amount of Crystal Effects onto the back of your clear button. The trick to this technique is to use a really small amount of Crystal Effects. You just want to dot a few small dots here and there all around the button.
- Now flip your button over and press it down onto your Designer Series Paper. You'll see the Crystal Effects spread out and fill in the entire back of the button. If you're done it right you should not even see the glue.
- Let it sit to dry for just a minute. The glue sets up pretty fast because you used such a small amount.
- Now use your paper piercer to punch through the holes in the button. This will open up the button holes in your paper.
- You're ready to use your button! You can use Linen thread, ribbon, or paper strips through the button holes to give your button a sewn on look and then attach it to your project with a mini glue dot. Or you can leave the button holes open like I did in the Flower Pin.
