One more look at a page from SSU 2007. Embossing on Buttons is a great way to add color and texture to your scrapbook pages, cards, and craft projects.

I could probably fill 2 or 3 books of techniques just with all the fun embossing techniques you can use. I'm sure we'll have a few techniques featuring embossing at the Stamp 'n Scrap University Retreat coming up this June.

Pages From The First SSU - Day 4

I'm back with another look at a technique from our first Stamp 'n Scrap University in 2007.

This time I'm showing you another technique page the I duplicated as a Scrapbook layout. The technique featured on this page was Faux Photo Stamping. A great way to get the look of stamping on your photos without having to be brave enough to actually stamp on them! :) You just use Staz-On to stamp on a Window Sheet, cut it out, and attach it to the page so it overlaps the photo.

Can you tell I like Black & White Photos?? I was in love with the fun bright colors we used on our technique page and they were perfect to give these adorable Easter pictures a vibrant energy.

Pages From The First SSU - Day 3

Baby Wipe Swipe was another technique from our first SSU in 2007.

 

As you can see it's another fun background technique that creates fun stripes or color. And the Giraffe that we accented the page with was created with yet another technique from the class, Fun Foam Embossing. They created a winter page for the Fun Foam Embossing using a Penguin stamp and we let them practice it a second time for the Giraffe on this page.

To Create a Baby Wipe Swipe Background:

1. Fold a Baby Wipe several times until you have a square about 2" across.
2. Along one of the folded edges place drops of Classic Stampin' Pad Reinkers. Create a row of drops along the edge alternating colors several times. This technique works best using 2-4 colors.
3. Swipe your baby wipe across a piece of Glossy White card stock pressing firmly and moving across the card stock in a straight line.
4. Repeat this process working your way down the card stock.

Pages From The First SSU - Day 2

As promised I'm back with a closer look at some of the technique pages we created at the last Stamp 'n Scrap University Class. Today's page is the Polished Stone Page. Polished Stone is one of my favorite techniques for creating colorful background paper for cards and scrapbooks.

As you can see at the class all the students were able to practice the technique, and then use their practice piece to create a 6 x 6 scrapbook page. We had printed that were added to the page so it was easy to remember how to re-create the technique later.

I actually took several of the pages we created at SSU and duplicated them as pages in my scrapbook. Here's a look at the page I made using the exact layout from our Polished Stone Page.

 

This is my favorite picture of my cousin and her baby and the soft blue and silver polished stone background circle really made the black and white picture pop.

Polished Stone is a very easy technique:

1. Soak a piece of felt or a cotton ball with Rubbing Alcohol.
2. The add a couple of drops each from 2 or 3 Classic Stampin' Pad Re-Inkers onto the felt.
3. Now pounce the felt up and down onto Glossy White card stock moving around until you've covered the area you want.
4. Let it dry for a minute or two and you'll see the great marbled stone look.

You can use your Polished Stone paper as a background or stamp right on it for a great foreground look.

Samples from the Last Stamp 'n Scrap University

I've had a few questions about what the technique books will look like and I though you would all enjoy taking a peek at the book and a few pages from out last Stamp 'n Scrap University held in June 2007. I get so many request to hold another SSU class and I'm excited that this year's class is going to be set up as a weekend retreat! We'll have more time to learn the new techniques and time to add some extras in, like decorating the technique albums!

 

You can see just a few of the technique pages we created at the class to fill the Mini Album. I'm currently working on finalizing the list of techniques for this year's class and we've got some GREAT ones planned. I have many of the pages planned (problem is I have more than 20 ideas, so I'm working on picking out the best of the bunch!)
